Anamnesis in naturopathic practice

A thorough anamnesis forms the basis of every naturopathic treatment. It allows me to gain a holistic understanding of the individual – not only of the current symptoms, but also of life circumstances, previous experiences, stresses and available resources.

In Traditional European Naturopathy (TEN), symptoms are not viewed in isolation, but understood as part of a broader context. Anamnesis serves to identify underlying connections and to clarify whether and how a treatment can be carried out in a meaningful, appropriate and responsible way.

It is essential in determining

  • whether I am able to take on a treatment,

  • how the treatment is approached,

  • and which methods are suitable in the individual case.

Follow-up treatments are also accompanied by a – usually shorter – anamnesis. This helps to assess the current course, evaluate how the treatment is being tolerated and make adjustments where necessary.

For me, anamnesis forms the foundation of attentive, well-founded and goal-oriented care.
